The Deck appears to be floating in the water, although it is supported by concrete pillars. The Deck and the Gazebo is build entirely out of locally sourced yellow Cedar and constructed one year apart. The Gazebo it self was constructed in Collaboration with Island Red Cedar Construction. The Roof was build on a nice flat spot on the Property and later lifted in place by Crane.
The previous Carport was destroyed by a falling tree in a storm so the owner decided to build a more solid structure and we were happy to assist. The corner posts at the opening are attached to heavy duty steel angel iron, encased in concrete three feet down. That helps to keep the front gable stable without the need of knee braces, which also keeps the front opening as big as possible, no obstructions to park your vehicles/trailers as close as you like to the wall.
Once the Kids done pretending this is a Castle and exhausted from playing all day. This 400sqf Platform, build from yellow Cedar, can become a quit place to read a book or enjoy a glass of Wine or whatever you desire.
1/3 of the lumber used for this build was reclaimed from the previous building in that same location. This building is being used as a carport, storage, tack room with a loft for an afternoon nap.
